Blast Off Day with Barlett & West @ Kansas Children's Discovery Center

Blast off with a full day of rocket science fun on Saturday, August 10 from 10 to 5 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

Witness the amazing power of water pressure with a water rocket launch at 10:30, then make your own mini-rocket using chemistry at 11:30. At 1:30, design, create and test a pool noodle rocket you can launch yourself, and take your creation home to continue the fun. Test variables like a scientist at 2:30 with our famous candy and cola blast off experiment—you’ll want to wear something you can get messy in for this one! At 3:30, use the power of air to launch a stomp rocket you design, then compete against other kid engineers in a space rocket race. Blast Off Day with Barlett & West helps children explore the laws of motion and the engineering design process, all while playing and having fun. This program is sponsored by our partners at Bartlett & West, and is part of our wrap up for Discovery Space, an out-of-this-world exhibit where you can climb aboard a rocket ship, contact mission control, dress up for a space race and learn about the science of space at the Discovery Center through August 14.

Regular admission applies, which is $7.75 for children and adults, $6.75 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.
