Stained Glass Snowmen

Create your own snowman to put on your window during this fun activity, beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

Alpine Slide Engineering

Build hills, loops and obstacles to engineer a rolling roller coaster track beginning at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

Ice Excavation

Scientists working in the arctic have to use tools, chemistry and knowledge of thermodynamics to work around ice! Conduct your own ice experiments on Thursday, December 30 at 4pm at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

Winter Prairie Walk

The prairie is a completely different experience in the winter! Tallgrass prairie once covered 170 million acres of North America. Now, only four percent of this grassland remains. Native plants and prairies are an important part of our ecosystem and the Discovery Center maintains a prairie on our grounds. Join us for a guided prairie walk on on Wednesday, December 29 at 4pm at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

Winter Bubbles: Freeze or Float?

Bubbles are created from a layer of water sandwiched between two layers of soap molecules, all surrounding a bubble of air. Depending on the outside temperature, they can freeze, float, or sometimes both! We’ll experiment on Wednesday, December 29 at 2pm at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.
