Planet Party Week: Mars Rover @ Kansas Children's Discovery Center

Explore Mars like a scientist on Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 and 1:30 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. Learn about how scientists and engineers use robotic rovers and other vehicles to explore distant worlds, and experience some of the challenges and teamwork required to navigate a rover across the surface of a planet millions of miles away. Players acting as “Mission Control” and a “Rover” must work together to navigate a large obstacle course. Participants can also design their own rover to fit the particular challenges of exploring a distant planet. Program created by the National Informal STEM Education Network. This astronomical activity is part of Planet Part Week at Discovery Space, a special summer exhibit that invites you to experience out-of-this-world fun! Climb aboard the rocket ship, contact mission control, dress up for a space race and learn about the science of space at the Discovery Center through August 14.

Regular admission applies, which is $7.75 for children and adults, $6.75 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and KCDC members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.

Check out for more serious fun!
