The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center is partnering with the Guggenheim Museums of New York to serve children with autism and their families.
On the morning of Sunday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to noon, families will gather in both New York’s Central Park and in the Discovery Center’s outdoor classroom to participate in a simultaneous art experience. The program is an extension of the free, sensory-friendly programs offered by both museums in which they welcome families with children on the autism spectrum.
Children will enjoy the outdoors with their families as they explore the architectural connections between the white, spiral-shaped Guggenheim and the bright yellow, sharp angles of the Discovery Center. Visual visiting stations will be available, allowing participants to engage with participants in the other city.
No advance registration or sign up is required.
The Puzzle Pieces program provides opportunities to enjoy family time at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center in a safe, understanding environment, allows parents to network with one another, and helps families discover new resources available to them.
The Discovery Center is not open to the public during this time.
