Advisors Excel Free Family Fun Night @ Kansas Children's Discovery Center

Join us for Advisors Excel Free Family Fun Night at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center on Thursday, October 17 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come explore the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center, a special place where children can create, discover and learn through play. The Discovery Center features 15,000 square feet of indoor educational play, including science, careers, building and art. Special areas for infants and toddlers let even the littlest explorers adventure. Kids can get outside in a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom. Join us for this free admission night generously sponsored by our partners at Advisors Excel!

Extended hours on the day before Thanksgiving! @ Kansas Children's Discovery Center

Come play on the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 27 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. Join us during special extended hours from 9 to 5. Dig into Thanksgiving-themed sensory-play during Wee Wednesday at 10:30. Then help create a turkey-themed doodle-bot that creates art while dancing on Wednesday, November 27 at 1:30 and 3:30.

Also, visit Kenya’s Kids, a new cultural exhibit where families can discover what life is like for children in Kenya today, a country both technologically-advanced and filled with longtime traditions. Kenya’s Kids magically transports visitors into the lives of children living in Kenya, bringing the experience to life to encourage children to not just learn about, but also participate in a new culture as they travel through five immersive environments. Kenya’s Kids is open at the Discovery Center from September 13, 2019 to January 4, 2020.

The Nutcracker Storytime and Performance with the Kansas Ballet Academy @ Kansas Children's Discovery Center

Come play on Black Friday, November 29 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. Join us during our special extended hours from 9 to 5. At 10:30, the Kansas Ballet Academy will treat children to storytime, ballet class, and a solo performance by the beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy! At 1:30, Kansas Ballet will present a thirty minute, narrated performance of the Nutcracker Ballet.

On Black Friday, all new memberships and renewals are 10% off. Become a member on Friday, November 29 for a great deal on a full year of serious fun! Members get unlimited visits to the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center, invitations to member’s only events, and provide the financial support needed for new exhibits and programs. Funds raised from memberships also help children in need, who would otherwise be unable to play due to a medical condition, limited finances, or family situation.

Snow Globe Party!

Step into a magical world of snowy science and serious fun! Help us create a snow globe experience on Saturday, December 28 from 10-5 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. Throughout the day, add to the community snow globe scene in the art studio. Then pop amazing snow globe bubbles every hour and use the power of chemistry to melt frozen snow globes at 1:30.

Give the kids a truly memorable new year at Kansas Children’s Discovery Center’s famous Noon Year’s Eve! Ring in 2020 on Tuesday, December 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a pancake breakfast sponsored by Hy-Vee, serious fun slime, chemistry confetti, rockin’ robots and the thrilling Discovery Center balloon drop at noon! Each child will receive a party kit and wonderful memories of their special new year celebration. It’s all the fun of New Year’s Eve, specially designed for young children.

Noon Year’s Eve is $17 for adults and children and $15 for Discovery Center members, which include breakfast and all activities. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased online at https://kansasdiscovery.org/noonyearseve/.

Proceeds from Noon Year’s Eve fund special programs for children in need, to ensure rich, diverse museum experiences for every child. This event is generously sponsored by Hy-Vee, Mize Houser & Company P.A. and Heritage Bank.

Noon Year’s Eve also includes a morning of play at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus one of the last chances to see the Kenya’s Kids exhibit, which closes on January 4, 2020.
