Share thankfulness all month long in The Pigeon Comes to Topeka! A Mo Willems Exhibit at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. Make a card for a veteran November 1st through 11th for volunteers to deliver to local veterans on Veterans Day. All month, design an extraordinary personalized thank you to give to someone special.

Also, visit the whimsical world of Mo Willems at The Pigeon Comes to Topeka! A Mo Willems Exhibit at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center, open through January 4, 2019. The exhibit brings to life all of Mo Willems’ most popular picture books and characters, including The Pigeon, Elephant and Piggie and Knuffle Bunny in a fun, interactive exhibit that’s full of laughs.

The Pigeon Comes to Topeka! A Mo Willems Exhibit is included in regular admission to the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center, which is $7.75 for kids and adults, $6.75 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and KCDC members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.

The Nutcracker Storytime with Kansas Ballet Academy

Join Kansas Ballet for a delightful introduction to the enchanting Nutcracker Ballet at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center on Friday, November 23.

At 11, KBA will treat children to storytime, ballet class, and a solo performance by the beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy! The morning program is appropriate for ages 3 and up.

At 2, Kansas Ballet will present a 30 minute, narrated performance of the Nutcracker Ballet (appropriate for all ages). Clara and her family gather for their annual Christmas party at the Staulbaum house where Clara is presented with an enchanted Nutcracker doll. The doll is actually a prince who fell under the evil spell of the jealous Mouse Queen, but Clara’s tender heart breaks the curse and the prince comes back to life. Together Clara and the Nutcracker Prince journey to the magical Land of the Sweets for an evening of dance and celebration.

Regular admission applies, which is $7.75 for kids and adults, $6.75 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and KCDC members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.

Noon Year’s Eve

Give your family a truly memorable experience at Kansas Children’s Discovery Center’s famous Noon Year’s Eve! Ring in 2019 on Monday, December 31 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm with a pancake breakfast sponsored by Hy-Vee, serious fun sensory play and the thrilling KCDC balloon drop at noon! Each child will receive a party kit and wonderful memories of their special new year celebration. It’s all the fun of New Year’s Eve, specially designed for young children.

Noon Year’s Eve is $17 for adults and children, $15 for KCDC members. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased online. Proceeds from Noon Year’s Eve fund special programs for children in need, to ensure rich, diverse museum experiences for every child.

Noon Year’s Eve also includes a morning of play at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus one of the last chances to see The Pigeon Comes to Topeka! A Mo Willems Exhibit, which closes on January 4, 2019. KCDC is open only for Noon Year’s Eve ticket-holders on December 31. The museum is not open for general admission on New Year’s Eve.
