Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the Discovery Center @ Kansas Children's Discovery Center

Honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 15 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. The museum will be open special hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed that one day his community and country would be free of racial injustice. Learn about Dr. King’s dream and write your own dream for your family, community, and country on your dream cloud for our collaborative art project.

At 10 a.m., please join us for a performance of We Shall Overcome from Jonathan Andrews followed by Lift Every Voice and Sing performance from International Academy of Bright Stars School Choir. At 11 a.m., participate in story time with JQuory Guest reading Be a King: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Dream and You by Carole Boston Weatherford, and at 1:00 p.m. enjoy story time with Daisy Karimi reading I Am Enough by Grace Byers.

Regular admission applies, which is $9 for children and adults, $8 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Museums for All admission for families receiving WIC or EBT is $3 for children and adults up to four people. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom and special space for babies and toddlers to explore.
