Juneteenth Celebration
Jun 19 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Juneteenth Celebration @ Kansas Children's Discovery Center

We’re celebrating Juneteenth at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 19. At 1 p.m., Daisy Karimi will read The Juneteenth Story: Celebrating the End of Slavery in the United States by Alliah L. Agostini, illustrated by Sawyer Cloud. At 2 p.m., local artist Dané Shobe will lead a children’s illustration workshop. Both activities will take place inside Picture the Dream: The Story of the Civil Rights Movement through Children’s Books, an exhibit in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision. The exhibit delves into the events, people, and themes of the civil rights movement through children’s literature and will be open at the museum until August 11, 2024.

That morning, please consider attending the 4th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Parade starting at 11 a.m. in downtown Topeka. Get full details of the parade and more fantastic family Juneteenth events at http://www.tffjc.org/
