Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the Discovery Center
Honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 20 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. The museum will be open special hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed that one day his community and country would be free of racial injustice. At 10 a.m., please join us for a performance from DoubleStuf Quartet of Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing, the Star Spangled Banner, and We Shall Overcome. Immediately following, please join us in creating your very own Stone of Hope! Children will be invited to use acrylic paint and brushes, and to paint hopeful images and messages on a stone they can take home with them.
Regular admission applies, which is $9 for children and adults, $8 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Museums for All admission for families receiving WIC or EBT is $3 for children and adults up to four people. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom and special space for babies and toddlers to explore.
