Roll on into the Fit Excavating Big Dig at the Kansas Children's Discovery Center on March 28, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.! Families will dig the chance to see real construction equipment up close, meet the professionals who operate big diggers, and explore the power, size, and science behind these incredible machines!

From excavators to heavy-duty trucks, Fit Excavating Big Dig gives children the opportunity to spark their curiosity about how things are built, how machines move earth, and how teamwork makes big projects possible. It’s a day designed to inspire future builders, engineers, and problem-solvers through real-world exploration and play.

Please note this event will be held weather permitting only.

Regular admission applies, which is $11 for adults and children, $10 for seniors over 65, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 30,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.
