Slide, spin, and glide across our indoor Sock Skating rink!

Sock Skate is BACK! Open now through February, grab your coziest socks and get ready for a winter wonderland experience—without the chill! The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center’s no-ice Sock Skate invites children to slide, spin, and glide across our indoor rink, designed especially with young skaters in mind.

Beyond the laughter and play, sock skating offers incredible benefits for growing minds and bodies. It’s a fun way for children to build balance and coordination as they navigate the slippery surface. Gross motor skills get a workout too, as kids use their whole bodies to slide, pivot, and spin, strengthening muscles and improving agility.

The rink also sparks dramatic play and imagination, transforming little ones into Olympic skaters or daring ice adventurers. Collaborative play is encouraged as children share the space, taking turns, and inventing games together, all while building social skills and teamwork.

With sock skating, kids can safely experience the challenge of skating while focusing on fun—not falls. So, grab your favorite fuzzy socks and head over for some sock-sliding excitement, where play and learning come together in the coolest way possible!

A huge thank you to volunteers from Advisors Excel who helped us get the ice rink set up. They braved the rain to help create this magical experience for families and we’re grateful for their ongoing support.
