The Washburn football team showed that teamwork goes beyond the game.

The Washburn University football team recently brought their teamwork off the field and into the community during a volunteer day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

Thirty student-athletes spent the afternoon helping care for the Discovery Center’s outdoor spaces. The group worked together to pick up trash around the parking lot and building perimeter, weed the landscaping at the front entrance, and clear leaves from several areas of the property.

Volunteers also swept sidewalks in the outdoor classroom, tidied the Dino Dig by sweeping sand back into place, and hung fence covering around the mulch area. Their efforts helped refresh several spaces that families and children use every day.

Support from community partners like the Washburn football team helps keep the Discovery Center welcoming, safe, and ready for exploration. Their hard work and teamwork made a big impact, and we are grateful for their help.
