Discovery Kindergarten is a free program to get kids ready for school! Incoming kindergarten students and their caregivers are invited to come to the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center when the facility is normally closed for a special learning playtime. Discovery Kindergarten participants can explore a simulated kindergarten classroom with teachers and learn how to prepare for first day at school. Caregivers will get tips on developing skills at home. Discovery Kindergarten will be from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center on the following dates.
Registrants may choose any date, each session is the same:
- Monday, June 10, 2024
- Monday, June 24, 2024
- Monday, July 1, 2024
- Monday, July 15, 2024
- Monday, July 29, 2024 (Spanish-speaking teachers will be present)

Join us for an early Independence Day celebration on Wednesday, July 3 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center! March along in our musical Independence Day Parade at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Admission for all retired and active duty military personnel and their dependent family members is free on July 3 courtesy of our friends at BriggsAuto.com. We’re celebrating another year of support for the BriggsAuto.com military discount that saves 10% on admission for military families everyday. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3 but is closed on Thursday, July 4.
Regular admission applies, which is $9 for children and adults, $8 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.
