Sensory-Friendly Sundays are on the second Sunday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon. On Sensory-Friendly Sunday, the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center offers free admission to families who have children with autism or have children who benefit from a sensory-friendly environment. Children play in a safe and understanding environment where the lights and sounds are kept low, and fun activities are designed just for them.
At this special Sensory-Friendly Sunday, families can meet Curious George in the program room at 10 a.m. as part of the nationally traveling “Curious George: Let’s Get Curious!” exhibit at the Discovery Center from September 19, 2023 to January 7, 2024. This exhibit introduces young children to Curious George’s world and leads visitors on a fun, meaningful, interactive math, science and engineering-based adventure.
The Sensory-Friendly Sunday program provides opportunities to enjoy family time at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center in a safe and understanding environment. These events allow caregivers to network with one another, and connect to resources. The museum is not open to the public during this time. Reservations are not required.
