Evergy Supports Children’s Museum Access, Programs

Evergy recently gave a $23,000 gift to the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center in support of the nonprofit children’s museum. The museum is currently closed to the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but is continuing to offer educational play information online and looks forward to reopening as soon as possible.

The contribution supports a number of Discovery Center initiatives. The Mobile Museum, which provides similar experiences to the museum in schools, parks and community centers throughout the region, is one area of support. The gift also supports the annual Engineering Expo event, which helps families learn about engineering careers and engages them in fun activities to teach engineering concepts. In addition, the gift supports the access programs to help ensure museum access for every child. All programs will be held when it is safe and responsible to do so.

“We are so grateful to Evergy for supporting our work, particularly in the midst of closure,” said Dene’ Mosier, president and CEO of the Discovery Center, “in times of confusion, young children need joyful play opportunities more than ever. We are proud to be able to partner with longtime supporters Evergy to support families during this difficult time.”
