Dive into a winter wonderland in Snow-Ventures, a winter fun exhibit at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center! Visitors will glide across a special sock ice skating rink, run a penguin rescue, operate a winter market, start an avalanche, and learn some seriously cool science! This special exhibit created by the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center will be open November 18, 2021 to February 6, 2022.

Move and Groove with Kansas Ballet Academy: Nutcracker Special! @ The Kansas Children's Discovery Center

The Kansas Ballet Academy will be onsite for a special Nutcracker Movement series! On select Thursdays in November and December beginning at 10am. This series is sponsored by the Kansas Ballet Academy.

This is also the opening day of Snow-Ventures, a winter fun exhibit at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center! Visitors will glide across a special sock ice skating rink, run a penguin rescue, operate a winter market, build with icy blocks, and learn some seriously cool science! This special exhibit created by the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center will be open November 18, 2021 to February 6, 2022.

Regular admission applies. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, special space for babies and toddlers, and a 4.5-acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.

Bubbles are created from a layer of water sandwiched between two layers of soap molecules, all surrounding a bubble of air. Depending on the outside temperature, they can freeze, float, or sometimes both! We’ll experiment on Tuesday, December 21 at 10am at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

The prairie is a completely different experience in the winter! Tallgrass prairie once covered 170 million acres of North America. Now, only an estimated four percent of this grassland remains. Native plants and prairies are an important part of our ecosystem and the Discovery Center maintains a prairie on our grounds. Join us for a guided prairie walk on on Wednesday, December 22 at 4pm at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.
