US Bank Starts Financial Literacy Conversations With Mobile Museum

A gift from US Bank is using the power of play to bring financial literacy to families in Topeka. The first event, held this week at SENT Topeka with US Bank volunteers working alongside museum educators, brought families together to build a foundation for a future of financial wellness through play as they explored a pretend economy, constructed towers, experimented with air and created art.

There are two more US Bank Mobile Museum events scheduled in Topeka this month:

The Discovery Center Mobile Museum is a collection of mini versions of our most popular exhibits for open play. Participants build machines, create art and more. With US Bank support, these experiences also included additional financial literacy components to encourage children to consider needs and wants and learn about saving and spending. Children were able to use pretend money to practice spending and saving scenarios, and categorize needs and wants using a catapult.

These experiences are critical for all children, especially those residing in underserved areas where opportunities to engage in hands-on, educational play are limited. The Mobile Museum, first launched in 2018, was developed with the belief that all children deserve quality, transformative play experiences to inspire a lifelong love of learning. The Mobile Museum has served thousands of families in all corners of the state.

Thank you, US Bank!
