Wonderful Water Facts
How much water is there on Earth?
Water covers 71% of the Earth's surface. Most of our water, about 96%, is salt water in our oceans. Water also exists in the air as water vapor, in rivers and lakes, in ice, in the ground—even inside your body!
How much water is in the human body and how is it used?
The human body is about sixty percent water. Water is used to run body systems from head to toe—from manufacturing hormones in the brain to lubricating joints in your feet! It also helps regulate body temperature, delivers oxygen all over the body and flushes body waste.
Why is drinking water important for kids?
"Popular culture has made beverages other than water exciting, interesting, and often the preferred choice for young people. Water is calorie-free and helps children avoid health problems such as obesity and dental cavities when it is chosen over high calorie, sugar-sweetened drinks."
