15th - Toddler Tuesday - Balloon Zoo - 10:30 am Description: Hop like a kangaroo, fly around like birds and wiggle like worms to keep balloons up in the air!
16th - Wee Wednesday - Fluffy Slime - 10:30 am Description: Have you ever played with fluffy slime? Come and experience the unique fluffy texture for some messy fun!
17th - Tiny Tots Thursday- Gooey Goodness! - 10:30 am Description: Roll up your sleeves and explore gooey slime!
19th - Celebrate the Eclipse! 11 am - 3 pm Description: The Solar Eclipse of 2017 is coming! Celebrate the sun and explore heat sensitive slime at 10 am. Create moon craters with flour at 1 pm. Fully engulf yourself in the experience and visualize what happens during a solar eclipse while riding our hovercraft at 11 am and 2 pm!

22nd - Toddler Tuesday - Kansas Ballet 10:30 am Description: Dance the morning away with the Kansas Ballet Academy!
23rd - Wee Wednesdays - Water Races - 10:30 am Description: Practice your aiming and grasping skills with water shooters!
24th - Tiny Tots - Sizzling Shapes 10:30 am Description: Triangles, squares and circles,oh, my! Create shapes with string, tape and dance moves!
26th - End of Summer Splashdown! 11 am - 3 pm Description: Bring the family (and a towel) to make memories during our water play day! Water shooters, sponges, and PLENTY of water fun will be available from 11am - 3pm. The End of Summer Splashdown is meant to douse your family and friends with H2O fun!
Week of 8/29 - 9/2
29th - Toddler Tuesday - H20 Music 10:30 am Description: What sounds can you make with water? Find out through exploration and experimentation with us!
30th - Wee Wednesdays -Clean Smiles, Messy Fun- 10:30 am Description: Clean and healthy teeth are important! Practice those brushing skills with our toothpaste sensory play!
31st - Tiny Tots - Rolling Paint! 10:30 am Description: Use our stamp rolling pins to make a masterpiece using your movement!
31st - Hy-Vee Free Family Night 1 pm Description: Special program announcement! KCDC will open to the public from 4 pm to 7 pm and admission will be free to all! Many thanks to Hy-Vee. Limited space will be available due to capacity constraints and it will be first come, first served.
2nd -Steam Floor Program: Exploding chalk! at 1 pm Description: Explore chemistry and help us create art using our exploding chalk bags at 1 pm. It is going to be messy!
2nd - Instrument “Petting Zoo” 11 am - 3 pm Description: Join the Washburn National Association for Music Education as they present a “Musical Instrument Petting Zoo” at the Discovery Center from 11 am – 3 pm. This zoo doesn’t feature animals, but includes wind, brass and other instruments! The petting zoo will enable children of all ages to explore a variety of instruments. See how to hold, play and experience music in a serious fun, hands-on way.
Week of 9/4 - 9/10
4th- Labor Day - Outdoor Engineering (throughout the day)
Description: We are open from 9 am - 5 pm on Labor Day! It's a great day to spend outside with family! Celebrate with us and explore our Outdoor Classroom as we take on STEAM building challenges outdoors. At 11 am, build amazing structures and shapes. At 1 pm, use your engineering mind to build forts! Build a sailboat using items found in our Outdoor Classroom and test it in the stream at 3 pm! School Year hours begin on Tuesday, September 5th. Open from 9 am - 3 pm Tuesday - Friday, 10 am - 5 pm Saturday and from 1 - 5 pm Sunday.
5th - Toddler Tuesday - Parachute Play at 10:30 am
Description: Bring a friend and find a spot around the parachute as we shake, hop and dance during Parachute Play! 10:30 am
6th - Wee Wednesday - Baby doll washing at 10:30 am
Description: Enhance your nurturing nature by practicing to be gentle while washing baby dolls.
7th - Tiny Tots - Liquid Motion at 10:30 am
Description: Hop, skip and leap like frogs on colorful sensory tiles!
8th -Adult Disney Night 6:30 - 9:30 pm
Description: No need to wish upon a star any longer - your dreams are coming true! On September 8th from 6:30 - 9:30PM, come and experience the magic of Disney Adult Night! Explore Disney-themed activities: Start your engines for "Cars" Racing;
Get to know great pets from the Humane Society in the 101 Dalmatian Hang Out; Test your knowledge in Disney Trivia and overcome your fears in the Hakuna Matata Insect Eating Challenge.
Be sure to start warming up those vocal chords, because Disney Karaoke will be available throughout the night! Dinner will be provided and a Bibbity Bobbity $ Bar will be available. Tickets must be purchased in advance. $25/person
10th - Puzzle Pieces 11 am - 1 pm
Description: On the second Sunday of each month from 11 am - 1 pm, the Kansas Children's Discovery Center offers FREE admission to families with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Puzzle Pieces program provides opportunities to enjoy family time at the Discovery Center in a safe, understanding environment, allows parents to network with one another, and will help families discover new resources available to them. *Not open to the public during this time.
10th - Grandparent’s Day! Half price admission for all grandparents all day long!

Description: Worldwide Day of Play means it is time to get outside and play! Visit the Kansas Children's Discovery Center for an exciting day of play! We will have inflatable games like bowling and volleyball out ready for you to enjoy!
18 - Homeschool: Design Build Test - $5/child: Register online
Description: Practice your engineering skills to build a structure that moves a wooden ball from one point to another! You will be challenged to build a prototype using the specifications of your client who is looking to build a water slide. Come ready to design, build, test and redesign!
