Description: Explore different textures like sandpaper and cotton while finger painting!

29 - Family Night - Disney!
Description: No need to wish upon a star any longer - your dreams are coming true! It is Family Disney Night at the Kansas Children's Discovery Center! Explore Disney-themed activities: Start your engines for "Cars" Racing, get to know great pets from the Humane Society in the 101 Dalmatian Hang Out, test your knowledge in Disney Trivia and overcome your fears in the Hakuna Matata Insect Eating Challenge. Be sure to start warming up those vocal chords, because Disney Karaoke will be available throughout the night! Dinner will be provided. Tickets must be purchased in advance. $20/person. Register online.

30 - STEAM Floor Program: Chemistry Rocket 10 am - 5 pm
Description:What happens when pressure builds inside a soda bottle rocket? Come and find out at 1pm! It might be a little messy!

Description: There is lots of movement in the ocean. Jump like dolphin out of water, clap your hands like a clam and dig in the sand like a crab!

4 - Wee Wednesday - Firefighter Sensory Play at 10:30 am
Description: Join us for a hands-on activity that will be certain to spark lots of pretend play! Community helpers and firefighters save the day as they fight fire in this imaginative sensory play!

5 - Tiny Tots - Trace and Paint at 10:30 am
Description: There’s only one you! Come trace the outline of your body, paint between the lines and create a colorful you!

7 - Global Cardboard Day from 1 pm - 4 pm
Description: Want to join in a celebration of creativity and recycling? Come and participate in the Global Cardboard Challenge with Topeka architects. Design, create and build cardboard masterpieces from 1 pm - 4 pm. Free with admission and/or membership.

8 - Puzzle Pieces 11 am - 1 pm
Description: On the second Sunday of each month from 11 am - 1 pm, the Kansas Children's Discovery Center offers FREE admission to families with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Puzzle Pieces program provides opportunities to enjoy family time at the Discovery Center in a safe, understanding environment, allows parents to network with one another, and will help families discover new resources available to them. *Not open to the public during this time.

Create a sugar skull and paper marigold flower to take home! Materials will be out from 11am - 3pm or while supplies last.

16 - Homeschool: Seismic Engineering - $5/child: Register online 10 am - 11:30 am
Description: It’s time to put on your engineering thinking cap! Learn how engineers reinforce buildings to better withstand Earthquakes. In this hands-on class, you will enhance a straw and pipe cleaner structure to support weights, then test them on our shake tables! Like a real engineer, you will be able to redesign and make your structure the best it can be!

18 - Wee Wednesdays - Spider Web Sensory Play - 10:30 am
Description: Become an expert on the care and feeding of pretend spiders! Dress for mess as we navigate the duct tape web, shaving cream tunnels and sock bug spider snacks! Spider web sensory play at its best!

Description: Practice your skills on the miniature obstacle course for children!

Description: It is a spooky time of year! Come play at the spooky playground in the Kansas Children's Discovery Center's Outdoor Classroom. The spooky playground has mysterious science and seasonal sensory activities for you! You can get messy in the spider fluff, pop ghost bubbles, feel the gooey nature of spaghetti guts and see flying chemistry ghosts! This is definitely a playground you will not want to miss! All activities will be available from 11am - 3pm on October 21st and 28th. The event is free with admission or membership on both days.
