Egg Splat Art

Discover how much force it takes to break a paint-filled egg and create splat art outside at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. The museum is open special spring break hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This program is offered as part of Tiny Titans: Dinosaur Eggs and Babies, a remarkable hands-on exhibition offers an astounding array of authentic dinosaur eggs and nests collected from all over the globe, in addition to great hands-on play experiences! Kids can dig for eggs, dress up like a parent dinosaur to brood their nest, and feel the texture of dinosaur eggs. Cute babies and fun dinosaur facts will keep the whole family playing and learning. Tiny Titans will be open from February 24 to May 30 as a part of Topeka Dino Days, a community-wide dinosaur celebration.

SnowFest: Catapulting Snowballs, SnowBots and more!

Come celebrate the last weekend of SnowVentures with us at SnowFest!

Test your trajectory skills while launching snowballs with catapults at 10 a.m, then explore coding logic while helping plow the pretend snowballs with robots at 2 p.m. Finally, explore how different materials interact as we erupt a chemistry rainbow at 4 p.m.!

Snow Engineering: Alpine Slide Design, Snow Shovel Design and Recycled Snowman Build

Build hills, loops and obstacles to engineer a rolling alpine slide coaster track at 10 a.m., design a prototype for a snow shovel at 2 p.m. and create a recycled snowman at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

Winter Bubbles: Freeze or Float?

Bubbles are created from a layer of water sandwiched between two layers of soap molecules, all surrounding a bubble of air. Depending on the outside temperature, they can freeze, float, or sometimes both! We’ll experiment beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.
