Snowfest: Snow Bots

Beep. Boop. Beeeeeep. Roll robots around like a snowball, then move and launch pretend snowballs with the robotic snowball launcher at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center on Wednesday, January 2 at 1:30 and 3:30.

This program is a part of Snowfest, happening the whole month of January at the museum. Join us January 2 to January 5 for daily science programs and snow much fun during special extended hours from 9 to 5 every day.

Regular admission applies, which is $7.75 for kids and adults, $6.75 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and KCDC members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus with Topeka Metro

Join us for a special storytime with bus drivers from Topeka Metro on Thursday, December 13 at 10 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. We’ll read Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive The Bus by Mo Willems, and share a special thank you for our local public transportation employees! Bus drivers will be happy to answer your questions about what it’s like to drive a bus (unless you’re The Pigeon!).

This collaborative event celebrates Topeka Metro’s Winter Fling-Families Ride Free campaign, happening from Saturday, December 23, through Tuesday, January 2. Families (at least one adult with one child) can ride free on all fixed routes free of charge during the campaign. In addition, drivers will have special cards on-hand with family discounts to local destinations, including the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.

After the program, kids can drive the bus in The Pigeon Comes to Topeka! A Mo Willems Exhibit at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center, open September 24, 2018 to January 4, 2019. The exhibit brings to life all of Mo Willems’ most popular picture books and characters, including The Pigeon, Elephant and Piggie and Knuffle Bunny in a fun, interactive exhibit that’s full of laughs.

Snowmazing!

Join us at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center for Snowmazing, a very cool day of snowy fun! Special programs include Toddler Tuesday dance, move and groove activity with our friends from the Kansas Ballet Academy, indoor snow volcanoes at 11 and 1 and tons of wintery fun from 9 am to 3 pm.

Special Event for New Year’s Eve

The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center is open only for Noon Year’s Eve ticket-holders on New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31. Noon Year’s Eve will take place from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The museum is not open for general admission on New Year’s Eve, and is closed on New Year’s Day. Please join us after the holiday from Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 4 for extended hours from 9 to 5 and lots of fun!

Noon Year’s Eve

Give your family a truly memorable experience at Kansas Children’s Discovery Center’s famous Noon Year’s Eve! Ring in 2019 on Monday, December 31 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm with a pancake breakfast sponsored by Hy-Vee, serious fun sensory play and the thrilling KCDC balloon drop at noon! Each child will receive a party kit and wonderful memories of their special new year celebration. It’s all the fun of New Year’s Eve, specially designed for young children.

Noon Year’s Eve is $17 for adults and children, $15 for KCDC members. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased online. Proceeds from Noon Year’s Eve fund special programs for children in need, to ensure rich, diverse museum experiences for every child.

Noon Year’s Eve also includes a morning of play at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus one of the last chances to see The Pigeon Comes to Topeka! A Mo Willems Exhibit, which closes on January 4, 2019. KCDC is open only for Noon Year’s Eve ticket-holders on December 31. The museum is not open for general admission on New Year’s Eve.

Chemistry Craze

Come in from the cold for a Chemistry Craze at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center from Wednesday, December 26 to Saturday, December 29 with programs everyday at 2. Build a battery, move colors through chromatography, investigate the science of scents and make amazing sublimination bubbles!

From Wednesday, December 26 to Friday, December 28, your admission gets you even more fun with extended holiday hours from 9 to 5. Come early for Piggie and Elephant’s Goodbye programs everyday at 11.
