Mobile Museum at the Brookwood Shopping Center

Explore the Discovery Center Mobile Museum at Brookwood Shopping Center during Family First Friday on Friday, August 2 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Based on some of the Discovery Center’s most popular exhibits, the Mobile Museum brings a plexi paint experience, real-tool workbench, Bernoulli wind table, building tools, engineering activities, a pretend restaurant and more. Discovery Center educators will be on-hand to engage the whole family in educational play. This event is free and open to the public.

Leap, Launch, Learn!

Jump in for a whole day of leaping, launching and learning fun on Leap Day, Saturday, February 29 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. Catapult pretend frogs at 10:30, launch film canister rockets with the power of chemistry at 1:30, and experience our famous cola and candy chemistry rocket launch at 3:30.

Regular admission applies, which is $9 for children and adults, $8 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom and special space for babies and toddlers to explore.

STEAM Saturday: Art Chromatography

Is it art or science? It’s both! Liquid usually flows with gravity, but in narrow spaces, it can go against the flow! Explore the properties of liquid and create beautiful, unique patterns using science, H2O, and ink on Saturday, February 22 at 10:30 the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. This fun and educational science activity is from our friends at the National Informal STEM Education Network (NISE).

Regular admission applies, which is $9 for children and adults, $8 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Experience a full augmented reality environment on Friday, August 2 at 10:30 and 1:30 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. Washburn Tech will be on-hand with their AR goggles to help you see outer space through a whole new lens! This program is a part of Discovery Space, an out-of-this-world exhibit where you can climb aboard a rocket ship, contact mission control, dress up for a space race and learn about the science of space at the Discovery Center through August 14.
