Will you help us? Kansas Children’s Discovery Center members support our community’s nonprofit children’s museum, allowing the museum to expand exhibits, create educational programs and increase access for all children. We want your thoughts on membership. We will offer a quiet activity for children during the group. All attendees will be entered to win a $50 Discovery Shop gift certificate.

Groups are offered on Wednesday, July 24 at 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm, or Friday, July 26 at 10:30 am and Friday, July 26 at 1:30 pm. Advance registration is required at www.kansasdiscovery.org/focusgroup

Car Seat Checkup Event with Safe Kids Shawnee County

This event is sponsored by Safe Kids Shawnee County.

Certified technicians will:
Inspect the child restraint; confirm that the child restraint is correct for the size, weight, and age of the child; provide hands-on instruction on how to install and use the child restraint in the vehicle; offer guidance on how to correctly place a child in the restraint; answer questions parents or caregivers may have.

Parents or caregivers can:
Provide the age and weight for each child under 8; bring the child to the inspection station; provide the vehicle owner’s manual; provide the child restraint instructions; allow at least 20 to 30 minutes for each seat to be checked.

Blanche Bryden High School Woodwind Quintet

The Blanche Bryden Institute offers high school and collegiate students a one week camp with intensive training in a chamber ensemble setting. Students are coached by Sunflower Music Festival musicians who are internationally renowned. The Blanche Bryden Institute students have the opportunity to perform at various locations in Topeka as well as a combined concert on White Concert Hall’s stage at the end of the week.

Family Fitness Saturday: Yoga

Join us for Family Yoga at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center on Saturday, MArch 7 at 10:30. Adults are encouraged to participate with kids for a fun morning of family fitness. Family Fitness Saturdays are generously sponsored by The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation.

Regular admission applies, which is $9 for children and adults, $8 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom and special space for babies and toddlers to explore.

This is also the final day to see Kenya’s Kids, a cultural exhibit where families can discover what life is like for children in Kenya today, a country both technologically-advanced and filled with longtime traditions. Kenya’s Kids magically transports visitors into the lives of children living in Kenya, bringing the experience to life to encourage children to not just learn about, but also participate in a new culture as they travel through five immersive environments. Kenya’s Kids closes January 4, 2020.
