About

Investigate body systems, examine animals, own a restaurant or car repair shop. Children take x-rays, repair rusty mufflers, create recipes and learn about bodies. Take turns being owner, physician, employee and customer, working together to simulate a small, active economy.

Fun Facts

The Café has served many different types of food over the years, including sandwiches, ice cream, pizza and Chinese food. Dramatic, or pretend play, is serious fun. Children playing pretend are practicing social skills, cooperation, and problem solving. Children at play are writing their own stories, allowing them to explore new interests and roles. These exhibits are also packed with math and literacy building play, including quantity comparison and bilingual signage.
