Illumination Station

About

Colorful lights, swirling colors and mirrors create exciting opportunities for scientific inquiry and experimentation. An eight-foot-long light wall with giant, colorful pegs creates opportunities for nostalgic light art. A marble wall and mirror create fascinating reflections to stimulate curiosity.

Fun Facts

Playing with light allows children to determine the effects of placing objects made of different materials in the path of light beams. Seeing how light affects different objects gets young scientists comparing transparent, translucent and opaque materials, a great foundation for learning science. The Illumination Station was installed in 2021. This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
