Volunteer Spotlight: Seaman High School Work Study Program

Thank you, Seaman High School Work Study Program students!

For over 30 years, the Seaman High School Work Study Program has helped students gain hands-on experience in the community, and we’ve been lucky to be part of that journey for over 10 years! Each week—sometimes twice!—we welcome dedicated juniors and seniors who bring energy, enthusiasm, and hard work to our space.

From prepping for events and resetting exhibits to interacting with young visitors, these students take on a variety of tasks while building teamwork, communication, and responsibility skills. They’ve also learned patience—cleaning and resetting exhibits on repeat? Sounds a little like parenting! They love spotting familiar faces, watching kids grow, and experiencing both new and permanent exhibits.

We’re especially grateful for their eagerness to help, their dedication, and the smiles they bring each week. They make the Discovery Center a better place for guests and staff alike!

To all the amazing Seaman High School Work Study students—thank you! Your hard work and positivity make a difference, and we’re so lucky to have you on our team!
